SHAYDE Beauty: How to Take Advantage of Quarantine for your Skincare Needs
Experiment with New Products
It's a great time to try out those new products that you have been wanting to incorporate in your skincare routine.
Use ingredients that may cause some initial skin “purging” (redness, breakouts, itching) that your skin may need some time to get used to, such as retinoids and salicylic acid. Since social interaction is limited during this time, you can go through the purging period on your own and repping your glowing and clear skin in the long run.
Before anything else, make sure to read our Disclaimer on Testing + New Skincare before doing so to ensure a smooth transition with new products!
Remember that Sunscreen Isn’t Seasonal
As the colder weather comes rolling around the corner and most of our time is spent inside, it doesn’t change the fact that our skin still needs sunscreen. Especially, if you work near a window and natural light peaks through.
Wearing sunscreen is the utmost important step in your skincare routine because it prevents UV rays that can lead to the development of skin cancer as well as reduce signs of premature aging. There are several types of sunscreens (chemical and physical) available that you can try out, so do your research to find out what works best for you.
Helping you Feel in Control
Staying motivated to keep up with your skincare routine can be hard, especially in quarantine. Though things may seem out of control right now, it is best for you to start looking at the things you can control. Whether that is cleaning up your living space or reserving an hour to give yourself.
One of our all time favorite quarantine activities is indulging in face masks! There are a plethora of face masks that are packed with hydrating and detoxifying benefits that will help with your skin health. Try looking for face masks that contain:
- Hyaluronic Acid: A powerful humectant that alleviates dry and parched skin by attracting water molecules.
- Activated Charcoal: Draws out and washes away skin impurities and heavy metal toxins leaving skin feeling supple and clean.
- Salicylic acid: A popular type of salicylate that helps shed dead skin cells, accelerate cell turnover, and allow other products to penetrate into deep layers of the skin.
